COVID Safe Microwedding – Part 1

I’m slowly catching up on all of my weddings and shoots from this year. Slowly. But after sharing two of my February weddings we have to rocket forward to June! I think we all know why March-May was pretty empty work wise but it still had a hand in all of my weddings since. When COVID-19 closed down schools and office and really just everything weddings were a part of the closure. I was thankful, however, Kristyn and Cody were able to make it work and have their day on a smaller scale on their original date in June. The biggest question everyone had leading up to weddings during this pandemic was how to keep it safe and the biggest answer was: COVID Safe Microwedding.

Kristyn and Cody even took it a step further and split their day in half. They held their ceremony on their original date with immediate family then in August held their reception with friends and extended family who could come. I’ll save the second part for another post but I was beyond excited to still have a part in their day even on such a small scale.

June 6th

To start the day, Kristyn got ready at her sister’s home down the road from the venue. I worked on getting shots of all the precious details they gave me to work with. The small pillow was her grandmothers. Cody had gotten the cats as cake toppers as a gift and surprise to Kristyn. They are based on the two cats they own! A friend had even made their cake for them! But to start I’ll give you a small taste of what you will find at the end…

Okay, now that I’ve got you hooked… check out these absolutely adorable details!!

To stay COVID safe we went outside to get our getting ready photos and the backyard was a perfect backdrop.

Then Cody and his groomsmen (his brother and Kristyn’s brother) were able to get ready at the venue with a barn as the back drop! The dove pin was his mother’s, it was such a beautiful touch.

Now was time for Kristyn’s first look with her dad. This is always my favorite part of any wedding when brides ask to do this! Dads always get so happy to see their daughters in their wedding dress.

Ceremony!

When it was time for everyone to gather for the ceremony, the excitement grew! This COVID safe microwedding was ready to go and I got hit with the best surprise yet! There we so many touches from The Princess Bride!! This movie is one of my all time favorites so you can imagine how giddy I got seeing these details. The officiant even quoted this entire monologue from the wedding scene!!

The ceremony was beautiful. A beautiful pond as a great backdrop. Kristyn’s nieces and nephew made us all giggle. We even got a shot of family from out of town on FaceTime! In the end Cody and Kristyn were married and even though in the outside world things were not sure and were scary, these two had their love and all was so beautiful.

We can’t forget the beautiful shots we got of the happy bride and groom after the ceremony!!

Alpaca Time!!

(One alpaca was named Lady Gaga and I was OBSESSED!!!)
